Retired postmen will turn ‘Nagad’ entrepreneurs
From now on, after retirement, all postmen or postal peons under the Bangladesh Postal Department can become entrepreneurs of 'Nagad' if they want. The most popular mobile financial service- 'Nagad' will provide all possible support to the retired postmen in their journey of becoming entrepreneurs.
'Nagad' has taken up such a scheme with the aim of providing a guaranteed income after the retirement of postal peons scattered in different parts of the country. In addition to giving them the opportunity to earn extra income, they will be able to ensure all the 'Nagad' services affordable for the common people of the country.
Under this program, 'Nagad' will provide all kinds of assistance to the retired postal peons stationed in the town as well as in the village. In that case the entrepreneur has to launch the service at the post office located in their area. To become an entrepreneur one has to apply through the concerned post office along with 'Nagad' which will provide overall support to these new entrepreneurs starting from branding to technical aspects.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar welcomed the process of turning retired postmen as entrepreneurs. He also had a post on his Facebook page about this. Thanking the 'Nagad' officials for the innovative initiative, the Minister said, "The postal network is the largest and widest network of the government as a single entity. More than ten thousand people work here. With this human resource, 'Nagad' will be more dedicated to digital services for the people. Even retirees will have the opportunity to have a good time and earn extra income.”
Commenting on the new initiative, Tanvir A Mishuk, Managing Director, 'Nagad', said, Retired Postal Pioneers from the Postal Department can be the promoters of ‘'Nagad' as our representative to spread the service to the end. In this case, on the one hand, they can stay in work even after retirement, and on the other hand, additional income will be ensured for themselves.
Due to its low cost and easy service, 'Nagad' entrepreneurs have been able to secure their strong position in this business across the country. As a result of all the innovative services of 'Nagad', entrepreneurs have become self-reliant, and many new entrepreneurs are being created every day. The service has become popular among the people in a very short time, especially due to the low cost of 'Nagad' transactions. Eventually, the entrepreneurs of 'Nagad' have been able to change the fate of themselves and their families by becoming self-reliant. At present, the number of entrepreneurs in 'Nagad' is 2 lakh 42 thousand.
According to the latest information, there are 9,886 post offices across the country, where almost the same number of postal peons are working. A significant number of postal peons retire every year, and in most cases they have no job after retirement. But now if they want, they can apply to the 'Nagad' authority through the concerned postal department.
